En Primeur Wines – delivery in early 2028
Description
A Beaune 1er Cru combining finesse and balance, from Domaine du Château de Meursault
The estate
Domaine du Château de Meursault lies in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy. Its modern viticultural structure took shape in 1973 under the impetus of André Boisseaux, who restored the château and developed the vineyard. Since December 2012, the estate has belonged to the Halley family, under the leadership of Olivier Halley, who continues to pursue a path of excellence and sustainability. Today, the domaine extends across 67 hectares farmed organically, spread over numerous prestigious climats of the Côte de Beaune, encompassing grands crus, premiers crus and village appellations.
The vineyard
Originating from the climat of Les Grèves, in the Beaune appellation, the lieu-dit "Les Trois Journaux" occupies a mid-slope position with a full easterly exposure. The clay-limestone soil, particularly gravelly and almost sandy, promotes good drainage and even ripening of the grapes. This plot of approximately one hectare is part of the 67 hectares of Domaine du Château de Meursault, all farmed organically.
Vinification and ageing
For the production of this Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" 2025, the domaine applies the methods it customarily reserves for its red wines: a controlled alcoholic fermentation, favouring pumping over rather than punching down for a measured extraction of tannins, followed by a maceration period allowing the gradual integration of the wine's substance. Ageing then continues in oak barrels, with a proportion of new wood, in order to refine the texture while preserving the freshness of the fruit. This wine, currently sold en primeur, is continuing its ageing before bottling.
Grape variety
This Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" 2025 from Domaine du Château de Meursault is made from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of the red wines of the Côte de Beaune.
