A Speyside single malt with unique assemblages
Glenfiddich, pioneer of Scottish single malt
Founded in 1887 in Dufftown in Scotland’s Speyside, Glenfiddich remains one of the rare single malt distilleries entirely family-owned. Owned by William Grant & Sons for over 135 years, this brand revolutionized the industry in the 1960s by popularizing the concept of single malt with its iconic triangular bottle. A pioneer of the category, Glenfiddich excels in the art of maturation in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, using sophisticated blending techniques. This Speyside Scotch whisky embodies the perfect balance between centuries-old tradition and contemporary innovation.
Glenfiddich 40 Years Old, an exceptional technical feat
This 18th and latest re-release to date of Glenfiddich 40 Years Old showcases a revolutionary blending technique called “remnant vatting.” The Master Blender carefully marries individually hand-selected casks, aged in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, with what remains of the previous 40-year-old vatting. This continuous process guarantees a minimum age of forty years and allows for a unique accumulation of aromas over the years.
Glenfiddich is the only Scottish single malt distillery in the industry to use this technique. The casks are carefully stored in warehouse number 8, the resting place of the distillery’s old whiskies.
