Rochelt: the excellence of Austrian artisanal eau-de-vie
Founded in the 1980s by Günter Rochelt in a garage in the Austrian Tyrol, Rochelt embodies the excellence of artisanal eau-de-vie. After twenty years of apprenticeship alongside Tyrolean farm women, commercial production began in 1991 from the Fritzens distillery, near Innsbruck in Austria. Now led by Alexander Rainer, the founder’s son-in-law, this family house perpetuates an ancestral method more than three centuries old. Its singularity lies in a radical commitment: up to 80 kg of fruit harvested at perfect ripeness, natural fermentation with no additives, double manual distillation, and an exceptional bottle created by local artisans.
