    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Muscat 2004 Rochelt

    Tasting

    Nose

The nose reveals an intensely fruity character and a remarkably supple structure, marked by floral notes of rose, bergamot and lemon blossom. This aromatic complexity is enriched by nuances of spring green fruits, jasmine, quince, pear, coconut and lavender, enhanced by hints of fresh spices, ginger, rosemary and cracked black pepper.

    Palate

Rich and mature, the palate displays a remarkable sweetness perfectly balanced by a beautiful aromatic complexity. This full-bodied spirit highlights the distinctive attributes of the Muscat grape variety, leading to an exceptionally long, powerful and lingering finish.

    Food pairing and tasting occasions

This eau-de-vie is designed for contemplative tasting, ideal at the end of a meal. It is recommended to serve it at room temperature, as cold may mask its aromatic complexity and floral notes. For an optimal experience, pour approximately one centilitre into a suitable tasting glass (ideally tulip-shaped) and sip slowly to fully appreciate the concentration of fruit aromas.

    Mixology

An exceptional product of great rarity, this spirit is best enjoyed neat and unadorned. It does not lend itself to mixology.

    Other characteristics

Bottled at 60% alcohol by volume, this strength is the exclusive result of natural evaporation (the angels' share) that occurred during its very long ageing, without any dilution with water.

An eau-de-vie of Muscat of rare intensity by the Rochelt distillery

    The Rochelt distillery: Tyrolean excellence

Founded in 1989 by Günter Rochelt in the village of Fritzens, in the heart of Tyrol, the Rochelt distillery is an essential reference in Austrian eau-de-vie. Born from the desire to restore the noble status of local tradition, the house stands out for its uncompromising philosophy: selecting only the most perfect fruits. Today, the estate is led by Alexander Rainer, son-in-law of the founder, supported by the Rochelt family. Under his direction, the estate perpetuates exceptional artisanal expertise, favouring natural fermentations and double distillation in copper stills. The house's signature lies in its prolonged ageing in open glass demijohns, allowing the spirits to develop a perfect harmony between power and aromatic purity.

The exception of Muscat 2004: a distiller's reserve

The Muscat 2004, an exceptional Eaux-de-Vie and grape eau-de-vie, represents a masterful expression within the Distiller's Reserve collection. The Muscat grapes, grown in the Burgenland region, benefited from an exceptional growing season in 2004. Hand-harvested at optimal maturity, they underwent a fully natural fermentation, without any additives, followed by a meticulous double distillation to preserve only the heart.

The spirit then benefited from a prolonged maturation of more than fifteen years (up to twenty-one years) in open glass demijohns, sealed only with a linen cloth. This unique process allows for an extreme concentration of aromas. This edition is of absolute rarity, testifying to the distillery's exacting standards, as it only bottles vintages bordering on perfection.

The presentation of this spirit is worthy of its content. It comes in the house's emblematic green bottle, inspired by an 18th-century Tyrolean design.
