Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Bandol "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 from Tardieu Laurent
Food and wine pairings
This Mourvèdre from Bandol naturally finds its place alongside roasted or grilled red meats, starting with lamb, but also with slow-cooked game dishes such as a civet or a stew enlivened with herbes de Provence. Aged hard cooked-curd cheeses, such as Comté or Beaufort, also make a harmonious pairing with the richness of this wine.
Serving and cellaring
The Bandol "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 will benefit from being decanted approximately two hours before serving, and enjoyed at a temperature close to 14°C in order to fully reveal its substance and structure.
An old-vine Mourvèdre from the limestone terroir of Le Castellet in Bandol
The estate
Founded in Lourmarin in 1996 by Michel Tardieu, the House of Tardieu Laurent has established itself as a high-end négociant-éleveur in the South-East, without owning a single vineyard. It relies on a vast network of partner growers in the Rhône and Bandol, selecting only old vines. Now run by the Tardieu family, with Michel at its head and Bastien as cellar master, the house perpetuates a philosophy of long, meticulous ageing, in the service of age-worthy wines with a strong sense of terroir.
The vineyard
This Bandol comes from the terroir of Le Castellet, on clay-limestone soils typical of the appellation. The Mourvèdre and Grenache vines that make up this cuvée are more than fifty years old and hand-harvested, which gives the grapes a concentration and depth characteristic of old vines.
Vinification and ageing
The Bandol "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 is aged for twenty-four months in French oak barrels from Allier and Tronçais, used once or twice before in order to preserve the expression of the fruit and the terroir, before being bottled without fining or filtration.
