Description
The rich and intense expression of a Rhône red wine
The estate
Genius winemaker, exceptional creator and virtuoso oenologist, Xavier Vignon has been regarded as one of the leading specialists in the southern Rhône Valley for over twenty years. Curious and innovative, he has travelled to the four corners of the world in search of inspiration: from the estates of Bordeaux to the sunshine of California and Australia, this composer is capable of ennobling the identity of a multitude of terroirs. Against the grain, this expert is not afraid to go beyond the specifications of the appellations to make wines that reflect his own personality. His exclusive creations, such as the Arcane collection, showcase all his creativity and promise wine lovers a remarkable sensory and taste experience.
The wine
Inspired by the cards in Visconti's first Tarot, the packaging for Xavier Vignon's Arcane series reflects the personality of each of the bottles: La Justice 2020 symbolises balance and harmony, making for a wine that is both powerful and round.
The vineyard
From the Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation, this wine is a blend of six southern crus: Rasteau, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Vacqueyras, Lirac and Cairanne.
Winemaking and ageing
Arcane La Justice 2020 is vinified and aged in a variety of containers: Wine Globe, truncated wooden vats, stainless steel vats and rough concrete vats. Some of the Grenache grapes are aged in Vinarium for 24 months, a room designed by Xavier Vignon and his team. This 7,000-litre vat is made of stainless steel and wood and includes five 200-litre barrels, which are themselves filled with wine: an ideal environment for ageing the wine. The Mourvèdre and Syrah were aged in demi-muids and truncated wooden vats. The Cinsault and the rest of the Grenache were aged in Wine Globe.
