    Description

Tasting Notes and Serving Suggestions for Y 2024

    Tasting

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals great subtlety, first unveiling refined vegetal notes such as chervil, bay leaf and lemon or blackcurrant leaves. It then opens onto vibrant fruity aromas reminiscent of yellow grapefruit, orange and clementine zest, crowned by delicate floral touches of lily of the valley and lilac.

    Palate
From the very first sip, this wine shows a lively character and remarkable freshness. Its vibrant, delicate expression favours elegance over power, underpinned by superb tension. The finish lingers beautifully, offering perfect harmony and a lovely saline dimension.

    Food and Wine Pairing
This great white wine pairs wonderfully with fine, firm-fleshed fish such as turbot or sea bass, served with a smooth lemon butter sauce. It also enhances raw seafood dishes with Japanese or Peruvian influences, as well as salads combining bitter vegetables and citrus fruits. Finally, it makes an ideal accompaniment to pressed, cooked cheeses.

The Elegance of a Great Dry White Bordeaux by Château d'Yquem

    The Estate
Located in the heart of the Bordeaux region, Château d'Yquem is a true legend, whose origins as a wine estate date back to 1593, when the estate's rights were granted to Jacques Sauvage. The only Premier Cru Supérieur classified in 1855, this jewel spans approximately 113 hectares. Today, this prestigious name belongs to the LVMH group, which continues to uphold a tradition of excellence. Under the technical direction of Lorenzo Pasquini, the estate continues to shine through its uncompromising standards, producing legendary sweet wines as well as a great dry white of rare precision.

    The Vineyard
The exceptional terroir behind this wine, a true benchmark among Dry White Bordeaux, rests on a complex geological mosaic, combining warm gravel rises with a clay subsoil that ensures excellent water reserves. The estate benefits from the unique microclimate of the Ciron valley. Deeply committed to environmental preservation, the estate devotes half of its land to biodiversity, with forests and meadows. The vineyard, farmed without any chemical weedkillers and worked mechanically, has been certified organic since 2022.

    The Vintage
The year 2024 stands out for its cool climate and great complexity, marked by particularly contrasting weather conditions. Despite these uncertain and demanding climatic conditions, the growing season shaped a vintage defined by classicism, balance and remarkable finesse. Harvesting took place with precision between 20 August and 21 September.

    Winemaking and Ageing
To craft Y 2024, the grapes are picked before noble rot has fully developed. The juices are then carefully vinified in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve the wine's full tension. Ageing continues on lees in French oak barrels, some of which have previously been used for the estate's great sweet wine, adding subtle complexity to the final blend.

    Grape Varieties
This wine is made from a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon.
