The estate
The Krug Champagne House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary and passionate man. It holds a unique library in the world consisting of more than 150 reserve wines, some of which are over 15 years old.
The vineyard
With more than 250 different plots including the prestigious Clos du Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay, the House of Krug holds an exceptional heritage of vineyards in Champagne.
The wine
Every year since its foundation, Krug unveils a new edition of its Grande Cuvée to offer the most generous expression of champagne. This 162nd Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée is composed of a blend of 163 wines from 11 different years. The youngest dates back to 2006 and the oldest to 1990.
Vinification and aging
An aging of approximately seven years gives this cuvée its particular expression and elegance.
Blend
The 162nd Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée is the result of a blend of Pinot Noir (44%), Chardonnay (35%), and Pinot Meunier (21%).
40% of reserve wines are included in the making of this cuvée.
