The estate
Located in Léognan and founded in 1310, Château La Louvière extends over 65 hectares. Its neo-classical château, listed as a Historic Monument, reflects its rich heritage. Acquired in 1965 by André Lurton, pioneer of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the estate is still managed today by the Lurton family. Committed to sustainable viticulture, the property combines ancestral know-how with modern techniques to create wines of excellence.
The vineyard
Located south of Bordeaux, this terroir of around 10 hectares dedicated to the production of the estate's white wine benefits from a temperate oceanic climate, protected by the surrounding forests. The vines, averaging 18 years old, thrive on deep gravel mounds resting on a limestone or clay-limestone bedrock, ensuring excellent drainage and optimal water reserves. The estate practises precision and sustainable viticulture, favouring mechanical soil work, high planting densities and rigorous canopy management to guarantee the best grape maturity.
Winemaking and ageing
Manual harvest. Whole-bunch pressing. Alcoholic fermentation in barrels and 600-litre demi-muids. Ageing for 10 months in barrels on lees, with regular bâtonnage.
Grape variety
Sauvignon Blanc (100%).
