Nose
The nose opens with aromas of ripe pineapple and citrus, then, with aeration, reveals notes of buttery pastry and white flowers, creating a complex and particularly pure bouquet.
Palate
The palate is both dense and concentrated, driven by marked tension and remarkable balance. It carries through to a very long finish with elegant bitter notes, underscoring the class of this cuvée.
Food and Wine Pairings
This wine pairs ideally with noble fish such as turbot, shellfish preparations such as a scallop risotto, and fine poultry served with mushroom sauces.
Serving and Cellaring
Clos de Beauvenir 2024 benefits from nine months of ageing on the lees in large-format vessels, which already lends it a lovely harmony while giving it a cellaring potential of at least two decades.
Other Characteristics
This dry white wine has an alcohol content of 13% and carries the AOC quality designation.
A Rare White Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Balancing Tension and Floral Elegance
The Estate
Château La Nerthe is one of the historic founding estates of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in the southern Rhône Valley. Since April 1985, the property has belonged to the Richard family, who have committed the estate to organic viticulture, certified since 1998. The 92-hectare vineyard is now under the technical direction of oenologist Rémi Jean, who has been in post since 2019. The estate stands out for its 16th-century architecture and historic cellars, which make it an emblematic site of the appellation.
The Vineyard
Clos de Beauvenir comes from a single plot, the former garden of the château, sheltered from the wind by tall plane trees and crossed by natural springs. This micro-terroir in Châteauneuf-du-Pape rests on sandy and silty soils scattered with rolled pebbles, offering freshness, efficient drainage and thermal regulation that are ideal for the gradual ripening of the white grapes.
The Vintage
The 2024 harvest was described as demanding but promising in the Rhône vineyards, requiring particular attention from the estate's teams in the face of contrasting weather conditions.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes for Clos de Beauvenir 2024 are hand-harvested and carefully selected. The wine is then aged for nine months in demi-muids on the lees, a choice of vessel that allows a delicate integration of the oak while preserving the aromatic purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
Grape Varieties
Clos de Beauvenir 2024 is made from a blend of Roussanne and Clairette.
