Still a marked imprint of élevage; on the palate too, oak currently dominates a bit, yet the whole remains coherent, generous, and well made. Let it age.

Alluring, offering velvety-textured plum and blackberry preserve flavors, laced with singed alder and tobacco hints. Shows a subtle tug of earth through the dark finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032. 9,000 cases made.

    Decanter

The largest of the Perrodo estates in Margaux, this is a little more broad-shouldered and muscular than Marquis d'Alesme, extremely accomplished, focusing on coffee beans and tobacco alongside blackcurrant fruit. Enjoyable, a little less signature Margaux than its sibling property, but this is a delicious, gourmet-edged wine and a brilliant (relatively) value choice in the appellation.

Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, plums, espresso, orange chocolate and wet earth. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Rich and creamy with generous ripe-berry and chocolate notes. Walnut and earth notes on the finish. Drink from 2024.

The 2019 Labégorce is a rich, heady wine. Succulent black cherry, plum, espresso, licorice, menthol and chocolate are all dialed up. Readers will find an extroverted, lush Margaux. Soft curves and layers of plush fruit add to its considerable immediacy.

Fresh flowers, wet earth, spice, tobacco wrapper, and sweet red pit-fruit aromatics are everywhere. Elegant, soft, and refined on the palate, the wine is simply a pleasure to taste, with purity and silky textures that resonate. The finish, with its dark chocolate, plums, boysenberry, and espresso, is a treat as it lingers and expands on your palate. Give it a few years in the bottle and it is really going to be great. Drink from 2025–2047.

Gorgeous notes of red, blue, and black fruits as well as sandalwood, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and spicy notes emerge from the 2019 Château Labégorce, one of the richer, more opulent, and straight-up sexy wines in the vintage. A blend of 46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all raised in 40% new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, has beautifully integrated oak, a stacked mid-palate, and one heck of a great finish. Drink this rich, sensationally textured Margaux any time over the coming two decades. It’s unquestionably in the same league as the 2015, 2016, and 2018.

46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, 14% ABV. Purple with a ruby rim. Complex blueberry-driven bouquet with Alpine bilberries and blackberries, backed by licorice and dark chocolate notes. On the palate, a creamy texture carried by brilliant freshness and medium body. Focused finish packed with blackcurrants and Brazilian tobacco, ending with a gentle astringency. Top value from Margaux!

A brilliant wine with heart and personality. This captures so much Left Bank signature, as is often the case with Labégorce. Slate texture, grippy tannins that tug through the palate, holding tight to the brambled blackberry and cassis fruits laced with hawthorn and raspberry leaf. Great quality. 33% new oak. Harvest September 19 to October 12, technical director Marjolaine de Coninck.

Labegorce 2019 is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It leaps with notions of black cherries, mulberries, and blackcurrant jelly, followed by wafts of fallen leaves and tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with savory-laced black fruit, supported by firm, grainy tannins, finishing with a minty lift.

Its nose is rich and expressive, with enticing notes of mocha, toasted bread, and dark fruits. The palate is broad, with a dense, slightly grainy texture. The wine, rather massive at this stage, opens up with fresh, tangy notes.

Dark, intense, and beautiful color. Lovely, highly aromatic nose with ripe, creamy, and subtle fruit. Precise on the attack, very flavorful mid-palate, with a melting texture and, above all, an aromatic presence more intense than ever. The wine finishes with good length without emphasizing the tannin. Blend: 46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. A new concrete vat has enhanced this vintage’s expression. Note also that it contains more Cabernet Franc than usual. These vines were planted in 2008.

    Description

A fine red wine from Margaux by Château Labégorce

    The estate
With its elegant neoclassical style, Château Labégorce is a property in the Margaux appellation, renowned for several centuries for the quality of its wines. In 1989, the Perrodo family acquired this estate and invested their energy to elevate it to the height of its potential.

    The vineyard
The Château Labégorce vineyard extends over 70 hectares of vines, in the greatest sandy-gravel and sandy-silty soils of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux.

    The vintage
The climatic conditions of 2019 were quite mixed, yielding a beautiful vintage. The beginning of the vegetative cycle was peaceful, with favourable summer conditions followed by light rains in September, which helped the fruit ripen fully in time for the harvest.

    The ageing
    40% new oak barrels.

    The blend
    Merlot
(46%), cabernet sauvignon (40%), cabernet franc (9%), petit verdot (5%).
