    Description

A Saint-Emilion Grand Cru with an alluring salinity and richness

    The estate

Situated on a limestone plateau, Château Laroque shines bright in the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation. This Saint-Emilion Classified Growth has been a stronghold in the region for more than 9 centuries and still today has the largest vineyard in the appellation.

    The vineyard

Château Laroque is a Saint-Emilion wine made from a 61-hectare vineyard composed of old vines from a massal selection. The vines, which are 50 years old on average, are planted on the limestone plateaux, a typical feature of the appellation. They enjoy an east to west exposure and rest on very fine, bluish, limestone clay soils.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grapes were harvested by hand and carefully selected in order to keep only the highest quality grapes. Whole grapes were vatted using a gravity-flow method. Vinification was carried out in small concrete vats, with punching down and pumping over to ensure a gentle extraction. The wine was aged on its fine lees in oak barrels and casks. A first racking took place after 4-6 months of ageing, the second one was carried out a year later before bottling.

    Blend

    Merlot (99%)
    Cabernet Franc (1%).
