    Robert Parker Wine Advocate

    Robert M. Parker, Jr.

A serious red, as one has come to expect from this impeccably run estate, the 2000 Poujeaux exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, a sweet nose of black currants, minerals, and earth, excellent texture, impressive purity, and a long, concentrated, moderately tannic finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2016+.

A wine with delicious berry, nutmeg and fresh tobacco character, with just a hint of vanilla. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. Impressive. Very fine. Much better than from barrel. Best after 2008. 25,415 cases made.

A fruit-dominated wine, full of sweet, ripe, juicy flavors. It is not complex, but its richness in this vintage is going to make it very drinkable in five years.

Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 40%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Petit Verdot 5%. Very dark crimson. Pretty rich and gamey on the nose. Excellent alluring fragrance. Good, lively stuff. Slightly dry on the finish, but pretty succulent fruit on the mid palate – racy and very well balanced. Bought at the Christie's auction of 2000s recently. GV. (JR)

Nice, inexpensive charmer, mature and ready to go, with its sweet, cherry, black raspberry, tobacco and earthy personality. Freshness and round tannins, with ample cherry in the finish. This is not a wine I'd hold for further evolution.

Ripe red and black fruits, sappy green herbs, tobacco leaf, and graphite all emerge from the 2000 Château Poujeaux, and I'm always amazed at how well this wine ages. Still ruby-hued with a kiss of amber, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a ripe, textured, round mouthfeel and real complexity and nuance. It's drinking at its peak today yet should easily hold at this level for another decade. Drink 2026-2036.

Wonderful nose dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with notes of blackcurrant, blueberries, tobacco and sour cherries, framed by a lovely ethereal spiciness. It gradually opens up on the juicy, melt-in-the-mouth palate and, on the finish, shows fine tertiary notes like tobacco, along with another burst of blue fruits. Spot on.

    René Gabriel

01: Dark, saturated purple, impenetrable. Huge, ripe berry bouquet, multi-layered and immensely dense, with a note of dried fruit and a captivating sweetness, a touch of mahogany. Plush, extremely dense palate, a play of red berries and blueberries, palate-coating astringency, completely clean and perfectly vinified. A tannin bomb, yet already approachable. Poujeaux’s winning streak continues unabated. (18/20). 22: Just like that. Just for me alone. Profound, dark-fruited, smoky, with licorice. On the palate, still very aromatic with lovely fullness. Everything is now ripe and ready! High-level enjoyment!

A dense, velvety, full bouquet with plum, cedar, and tobacco notes. The palate is balanced, full and concentrated, with a velvety texture, a classic structure, fine tannins, intense aromatics, and a long, aromatic finish. 18/20 Drink – 2034

    The Wine Independent

    Ivar Bjurner

2000 Poujeaux is filled with soft and lush fruit. The taste is round and pleasing and next to the fruity elements you feel peppery, cedar and currant like notes as this wine is getting close to full maturity. It is wonderful for drinking now, especially if you have larger format bottles available.

    La RVF

It captivates with its balance and silky, finely textured palate. This is an elegant, fluid wine, yet balanced and very easy to drink.

The nose suggests depth, and so does the palate. It shows density and tannic substance with some "chest", yet without the charm and caressing texture of the 90, especially on the finish.
