Description
The complexity and refinement of a Saint-Émilion wine
The estate
The origin of the name "Trottevieille" dates back several hundred years. Legend has it that near the château there was a stagecoach stop. As soon as a team stopped, the old lady would hop down trotting to get the news, hence the name Trotte Vieille. The Château Trotte Vieille boasts a small parcel of vines that survived the terrible phylloxera outbreak during the second half of the 19th century.
The vineyard
Superbly located in the Saint-Émilion appellation and covering 10 hectares, the vineyard of Château Trotte Vieille rests on a terroir of reddish soils over limestone bedrock.
Blend
Cabernet Franc (49%), Merlot (49%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%).
