The 2024 Lune d'Argent was picked from September 4 to 20 at 45 hl/ha. It has a crisp, bright bouquet where, despite the minority of Sauvignon Blanc (30%), one finds zesty gooseberry and kiwi fruit scents. The palate is fresh and lightly spiced on the entry, with fine weight, a keen thread of acidity and orange rind and lemon zest notes toward the finish. This is ready to rock 'n' roll.

Honeysuckle, citrus, white peach, and a touch of pineapple form the core here. The wine is fresh, sweet, and juicy, with energy and lift on a tropical-fruit-accented palate. The wine blends 70% Semillon with 30% Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2026-2031. 92-92 pts

Beautiful expression of the bouquet through nuances of white flowers and lemongrass, complemented by a touch of mint. The wine has density, energy, and fine bitters that enhance its aromatic expression and persistence. An expressive wine that can be enjoyed young, though it will be interesting to follow its evolution. The substance is there!

An intense and highly refined dry white wine from Bordeaux

    The property

Clos des Lunes traces the history of an ambitious adventure that began in 2011 from an observation and a challenge: to produce a legendary dry white wine on the exceptional terroir of Sauternes. This is the successful gamble made with passion and energy by the emblematic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of the Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan.

    The vineyard

References of dry white Bordeaux wines on a sweet wine terroir, Clos des Lunes watches over a 60-hectare vineyard in the hilly reliefs of Sauternes. The 40-year-old vines on average are planted on a mosaic of soils each contributing to the signature of the estate's wines. If the deep gravels of Sauternes confer power, the freshness characterizing the gravel soils on clay-limestone substrate of Bommes combines with the finesse and elegance of the red lands of Barsac.

    Vinification and aging

Manual harvest in crates by successive sorting. Slow pneumatic pressing. No destemming or maceration. Settling by gravity, in a cold room, and regular stirring of the lees. The vinification of the best juices is carried out in barrels and vats. The aging of a duration of 6 months is carried out in barrels (25%) and vats (75%).

    Blend

    Sémillon (70%)
    Sauvignon blanc (30%).
