    Decanter

Typically showing ample, expressive aromatics of white peach, delicate citrus and soft almond, lifted by white flowers such as acacia and honeysuckle, this wine is known for its silky texture and a profile that is rich, full and creamy yet airy. In 2025, from 100% Sémillon at 13% alcohol, it offers subtle tropical notes of mango and quince, unfolding on a broader, more expansive palate than its sister estate, Clos d’Argent. While the wine gains volume and presence with aeration, at this early stage it leans more toward breadth than precision, and I find myself missing a touch of linearity and tension, qualities that make the Argent particularly appealing today.

    Yves Beck

Subtle citrus nuances of grapefruit and mandarin respectively, followed by a hint of mango. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine reveals a silky, linear character. Elegant and harmonious, it can be enjoyed in its youth. A persistent finish, nicely driven by fine bitterness.

    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for Clos des Lunes "Lune d'Or" 2025

    Tasting

    Nose
The nose stands out for its captivating delicacy and softness, unfolding through graceful floral notes of jasmine and acacia, enhanced by a fine touch of citrus zest. The whole gives off an intoxicating and sweet sensation, of rare elegance and immediately seductive.

    Palate
The palate is an invitation to indulgence: the pulpy, refined and crisp flesh of Sémillon fills the mouth with exquisite, smooth and fresh sweetness, carried by the exceptional ripeness of this vintage. The rigorous selection of the sorting passes gives the wine a remarkable purity of expression, allowing intense, crystalline and luminous fruit flavours to shine through. Tension and freshness run through the whole with precision, bringing brightness and balance to this concentrated richness.

The purity and fruitiness of a great dry white wine from Bordeaux

    The estate

Clos des Lunes tells the story of an ambitious adventure that began in 2011, born of an observation and a challenge: to craft a legendary dry white wine on the exceptional terroir of Sauternes. This is the successful gamble of the iconic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan, who, with passion and energy, have devoted themselves to making Clos des Lunes one of the greatest references for dry white Bordeaux wines in this land of sweet wines.

    The vineyard

The Clos des Lunes vineyard covers 60 hectares across the rolling hills of Sauternes. The vines, with an average age of 40 years, are planted on a mosaic of soils, each contributing to the signature of the estate's wines. While the deep gravels of Sauternes provide power, the freshness characteristic of the gravelly soils on clay-limestone subsoil in Bommes combines with the finesse and elegance of the red soils of Barsac.

    The wine

Prestigious and rare, Clos des Lunes "Lune d'Or" embodies all of Olivier Bernard's ambition: to produce one of the greatest wines in the world. Made from a rigorous manual selection of berries from very old vines, this dry white Bordeaux wine with significant ageing potential aims to be an ultimate expression of purity and complexity.

    Vinification and ageing

Manual harvesting in crates through successive passes according to ripeness. Slow pneumatic pressing. No destemming or maceration. Natural settling by gravity in a cold room, accompanied by regular lees stirring. Ageing lasts 15 months in 400-litre barrels and small ovoid vats. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

    Blend

    Sémillon (100%).
