Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Coup de Jus "Monkey" 2024 from Domaine des Marnes Blanches
Tasting
Colour
Displaying a pale gold hue verging on straw yellow, this wine shows great clarity and is particularly bright.
Nose
Vivid and intense, the nose opens with citrus aromas such as fresh lemon, grapefruit and lime, complemented by notes of stone fruit like pear and yellow apple. Subtle touches of white flowers intertwine with a pronounced minerality, evoking limestone and a hint of salinity.
Palate
The attack is energetic and lively, supported by a lovely acidic tension. The palate is built around a mineral backbone that perfectly balances the fruity flavours. The absence of filtration gives a slightly grainy, very pleasant texture, leading to a finish of great purity and moderate persistence.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs ideally with seafood, oysters or scallops. It also goes wonderfully with delicate white-fleshed fish such as turbot, light vegetarian dishes, or, more boldly, poultry such as duck or goose.
Service and storage
Designed for a convivial and informal tasting experience, the Coup de Jus "Monkey" 2024 is best enjoyed for its immediate freshness and spontaneous character.
The natural and fruity expression of a Vin de France from Domaine des Marnes Blanches
The estate
Founded in 2006 by Géraud Fromont, joined by his wife Pauline in 2011, Domaine des Marnes Blanches is located in the southern Revermont, in the Jura. These two trained oenologists, now the estate's owners, manage a vineyard of around fifteen hectares spread across several communes. Committed from the outset to a strict environmental approach, the estate has been certified organic since 2013. Known for its minimal-intervention approach, the couple produces authentic, pure wines. In 2018, they created the Coup de Jus négociant venture to explore new creative expressions.
The vineyard
Although the estate is based in the Jura, the grapes for this Vin de France come from old vines located in Alsace. Grown according to organic farming principles, these plots rest on limestone soils that impart a pronounced natural acidity and a highly distinctive minerality to the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Coup de Jus "Monkey" 2024 follows a philosophy of minimal intervention. After the harvest, the whole clusters are gently pressed. Fermentation begins spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for around ten months in neutral vessels, mainly old oak barrels. Bottling takes place without any fining or filtration.
Grape varieties
This blend is composed of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois.
