Description
An Aromatic, Fleshy White Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Accounting for 9% of the vineyard area, the white grape varieties of Domaine des Sénéchaux offer the chance to experience a great and rare white Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Located on some of the finest terroirs of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, the south- and southwest-facing vines of Domaine des Sénéchaux are planted on sandy, clay-limestone soils.
The blend of Domaine des Sénéchaux's 2015 white Châteauneuf-du-Pape fully expresses the typicity of the area's grape varieties, combining Roussanne (33%), Grenache Blanc (29.5%), Clairette (29.5%) and Bourboulenc (8%).
From vineyard to cellar, the utmost care went into crafting this wine, with teams working under the expert guidance of Bernard Tranchecoste, the estate's Technical Director since 1998. Once the press has been filled by gravity, the grapes are gently crushed. To draw out the full aromatic power of the Roussanne and Clairette, a pre-fermentation skin maceration is carried out.
Born of a great, sun-drenched and generous vintage in the Rhône Valley, the 2015 white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine des Sénéchaux displays the aromatic finesse typical of its appellation, opening with delicate floral notes and hints of stone fruit. On the palate, it reveals an ample, pulpy texture with a fleshy feel, while retaining lovely freshness and a persistent finish.
