    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Meursault Village 2023 Domaine Matrot

    Tasting notes

    Colour
With a beautiful red hue, this wine immediately captivates with its brilliance.

    Nose
The nose reveals a bouquet centred on fresh red fruits, such as cherry and strawberry, enhanced by a subtle earthy touch and hints of slightly tropical fruit.

    Palate
The palate offers a smooth structure with polished tannins. Both powerful and structured, it unfolds aromas of fleshy black fruits while retaining remarkable elegance and great purity of fruit.

    Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, rich-fleshed fish such as salmon, or meats like beef and venison. It also makes an ideal match for mushroom-based dishes.

    Service and storage

Approachable in its youth, this Meursault Village 2023 can be enjoyed from 2025, but will continue to develop favourably, drinking well until around 2035.

    Other characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 13%.

The elegance and purity of a red Meursault by Domaine Matrot

    The estate

The history of Domaine Matrot began in 1835 with the first vineyard work of Simon Boillot. Located in Meursault, at the heart of Burgundy, this family estate now spans 24 hectares across several prestigious appellations. Since 2016, sisters Adèle and Elsa Matrot have run the estate, succeeding several generations before them. Deeply committed to environmental stewardship, they continue the estate's philosophy, certified organic since the year 2000, favouring sustainable methods to fully express the authenticity of their terroirs.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from a blend of twelve plots located within the Meursault appellation. More specifically, the grapes dedicated to this red cuvée come from two plots planted at the foot of the Santenots slopes, in Volnay. The vineyard is cultivated according to organic farming principles, with regular soil work through ploughing and the use of organic compost to preserve the vitality of the land.

    The vintage

The year 2023 offered climatic conditions that allowed for generous grapes while maintaining a fine balance. The final stretch before harvest was marked by notable evaporation, concentrating the berries.

    Winemaking and aging

To craft this Meursault Village 2023, the bunches are fully destemmed before undergoing a cold maceration of three to six days. Fermentation then begins thanks to indigenous yeasts, accompanied by two daily pump-overs for gentle extraction. Aging takes place over a period of eleven to eighteen months in 228-litre oak barrels, a small proportion of which are new.

    Grape variety

    Pinot Noir (100%).
