A Refined Syrah in the Heart of the Rhône Valley
The Estate
Founded in 1983, when Michel Ogier made his first bottling at the estate, Domaine Stéphane Ogier has grown in Ampuis, in the heart of Côte-Rôtie, in the northern Rhône Valley. Today run by Stéphane Ogier, who joined the estate in 1997 before giving it its current name, the domaine now extends over 45 hectares of red and white vines. The estate stands out for a parcel-based approach inspired by Burgundy, combining micro-vinifications, sustainable viticulture and patient ageing, for a precise and faithful expression of the Rhône terroirs.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this Crozes-Hermitage come from a two-hectare vineyard in Pont-de-l'Isère, on soils made up of rolled pebbles and red clay. The vines, farmed using sustainable viticulture, have a planting density of 7,000 vines per hectare, with a controlled yield of around 35 hectolitres per hectare, ensuring a beautiful concentration of fruit.
Vinification and Ageing
The production of the Crozes-Hermitage "Face à Face" 2024 begins with a rigorous sorting, carried out both in the vineyard and at the entrance to the winery. After destemming, the grapes undergo cold maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, using only indigenous yeasts to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. The wine is then aged for twelve months in 600-litre demi-muids, adding roundness and complexity without overly marking the fruit.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Syrah, the emblematic grape variety of the northern Rhône.
