Jean-Michel Gérin : La Landonne 2022

A blockbuster in scale, with a meaty, dense core of dark plum, black pepper and singed anise. Chewy and compact on the palate, with tapenade and violet highlights giving way to a powerful foundation of iron and crushed graphite. Tugs of earth and iodine lend an old-school charm to the generous, energetic finish. Best from 2027 through 2042. 130 cases made, 6 cases imported.

Bottled in July 2024, the 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne used roughly 40% new oak during its élevage. Black-fruited, fleshy and spicy, the full-bodied 2022 also contains rustic, leathery undertones. These are, however, much less obvious than the other Gerin reds from the same vintage.
