    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 by Louis Jadot

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a golden yellow hue with subtle golden green highlights, a colour that tends to intensify with age, typical of this great white wine of France.

    Nose
Still reserved in its youth, the nose gradually reveals great aromatic complexity. It exhales aromas of ripe white fruits such as peach and pear, intertwined with indulgent notes of butter, warm croissant, hazelnut and honey, all enhanced by a delicate touch of fern and mint.

    Palate
Opulent and powerful, the palate offers a broad and silky texture. It expresses a perfect balance between a firm structure and great elegance, supported by a deep mineral backbone. The finish is remarkably persistent and harmonious.

    Food and wine pairings

This wine of great richness calls for noble and complex dishes. It pairs wonderfully with foie gras, refined shellfish such as lobster or langoustine, as well as fish served with creamy sauces. It will also elevate poultry in a cream and mushroom sauce, a veal dish or aged cheeses from its region such as vintage Comté.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C, after decanting for 30 to 45 minutes or simply opening the bottle one hour before tasting. This wine, crafted for ageing, will begin to fully open around 2027 and can be cellared until approximately 2040.

The elegance and richness of a great white Burgundy

    The estate

Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Now owned by the American Kopf family and chaired by Thomas Seiter, the house oversees a vast vineyard of more than 220 hectares spread across the most prestigious terroirs of the region. Deeply committed to the authentic expression of each plot, the estate stands out for its strong dedication to sustainable and organic viticulture, producing wines that faithfully reflect the richness and diversity of their appellations.

    The vineyard

Bâtard-Montrachet is an exceptional terroir located at an altitude of 240 to 250 metres, benefiting from an ideal eastern exposure. Resting on soils dating back to the Jurassic period, this vineyard is characterised by a brown limestone soil, deep and particularly rich in clay. This unique terroir, shaped by a temperate climate with slight continental influences, is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming to ensure grapes of optimal quality and environmental respect.

    The vintage

The 2024 season took place in a demanding climatic context for the region, marked by strong mildew pressure and various weather challenges. Despite these complex conditions, the growing cycle was successfully completed thanks to rigorous and constant work in the vines, allowing the harvest of healthy and concentrated fruit.

    Winemaking and ageing

The philosophy in the cellar is based on minimal intervention to let the terroir express itself. After destemming and gentle pressing, fermentation takes place under strict temperature control. This Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 is then aged in French oak barrels, mainly in 500-litre demi-muids that are lightly toasted or untoasted, for a period of 18 to 24 months to bring subtle complexity without masking the purity of the fruit.
