The elegance and structure of a Beaune 1er cru wine

    The estate

Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot is an emblematic figure of Burgundy. Located in Beaune, the estate today oversees a vast vineyard stretching over 220 to 270 hectares across the region. Since 1985, the estate has belonged to the Kopf family, represented by three sisters, while management is entrusted to Thomas Seiter and Thibault Gagey. Renowned for its commitment to the authentic expression of terroirs, the house combines its role as owner with that of négociant to offer a wide range of Burgundy wines.

    The vineyard

The Beaune 1er cru "Clos des Couchereaux" comes from a plot located on the upper part of the hillsides, in the center of the commune of Beaune. This terroir benefits from a full south-facing exposure, ensuring optimal sunshine. The vines thrive on well-drained soils, composed of clay and limestone, while enjoying good natural aeration that preserves the health of the vineyard.

    The vintage

The 2023 vintage in Burgundy was marked by a complex growing cycle and demanding weather conditions, requiring particular attention throughout the season.

    Vinification and ageing

For the making of this Beaune 1er cru "Clos des Couchereaux" Héritiers Louis Jadot 2023, the grapes are harvested by hand in small crates. After careful sorting, the berries are destemmed and then left to macerate in open vats for three to four weeks, with two daily punch-downs. Ageing then takes place in oak barrels for approximately 16 months, during which malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine is finally blended, lightly fined and filtered before being bottled under oxygen-free conditions.

    Grape variety

    Pinot Noir (100%).
