    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chambolle-Musigny Village "Les Drazey" 2023 by Louis Jadot

    Tasting

    Appearance
This red wine reveals a beautiful, bright ruby hue of moderate to deep intensity, adorned with purplish reflections in its youth.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet is complex, releasing scents of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, nuanced by hints of black fruits. Delicate floral notes of rose and violet intertwine with subtle touches of spice and perfectly integrated oak.

    Palate
The attack is supple and full of elegance, offering a silky texture supported by tannins of great finesse. The mid-palate, rich in fruity and floral flavours, is enlivened by a beautiful freshness and a discreet chalky minerality, extending towards a finish of remarkable persistence.

    Food and wine pairings

This cuvée pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, white meats in light sauces or dishes showcasing wild mushrooms. When it comes to cheeses, it will elevate soft cheeses with a bloomy rind such as brie, or uncooked pressed cheeses like saint-nectaire.

    Serving and cellaring

The Chambolle-Musigny Village "Les Drazey" 2023 can be enjoyed now, but it also has excellent ageing potential, allowing it to evolve in the cellar until around 2033.

The elegance and finesse of a red wine from Chambolle-Musigny

    The estate

Officially founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House stands as a true institution in Burgundy. While the family's winemaking history dates back to 1826, it is now a major estate overseeing a vineyard of approximately 150 hectares spread across the region's finest appellations. Currently led by its president Thomas Seiter, the estate upholds a demanding philosophy, combining a deep respect for terroirs, a strong environmental commitment and a determination to preserve the unique identity of each Burgundian climat.

    The vineyard

The Les Drazey lieu-dit is located within the prestigious Chambolle-Musigny appellation, in the Côte de Nuits. This terroir lies on east-facing slopes, characterised by predominantly limestone soils, sometimes very stony, with hints of clay. The vines are cultivated according to sustainable practices, favouring mechanical soil work, controlled cover cropping and the preservation of biodiversity, in order to allow the terroir to express itself with the utmost accuracy.

    The vintage

The 2023 year unfolded within an overall very favourable climatic context for the region. The weather conditions allowed the berries to reach optimal maturity, while avoiding excessive heat in many areas, thus ensuring healthy, expressive fruit endowed with beautiful freshness.

    Vinification and ageing

The harvest is entirely manual, followed by rigorous sorting of the berries. The vinification of the Chambolle-Musigny Village "Les Drazey" 2023 begins with maceration and fermentation in vats over two to four weeks, punctuated by measured punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. Ageing continues for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak of around 20 to 30%, before bottling with very light filtration, or none at all.

    Grape variety

    100% pinot noir.
