The elegance and minerality of a great Chassagne-Montrachet wine

    The estate

Officially founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot house stands as a true institution in Burgundy. Based in Beaune, the estate oversees a vast vineyard of approximately 200 hectares spread across the region's finest appellations. Now led by Thomas Seiter, President, and Thibault Gagey, Managing Director, the house continues to uphold time-honoured expertise while adapting to modern challenges, notably through a broad transition to organic farming. Louis Jadot thus embodies the excellence and authenticity of Burgundy's great terroirs.

    The vineyard

The Morgeot climat is the largest of the Premiers Crus within the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. Facing southwest, the roughly thirty-year-old vines enjoy ideal sun exposure. They thrive on a complex terroir composed of clay-limestone soils and marls rich in iron oxide, resting on a limestone subsoil. Trained using the Guyot method, the plots receive meticulous care and hold organic farming certification, ensuring respect for biodiversity and an authentic expression of the terroir.

    The vintage

2024 was characterised by generally dry weather conditions throughout the growing season. This climate favoured rapid ripening of the berries, leading to early harvests under slight water stress. These particular conditions resulted in grapes with lovely concentration, while preserving great natural freshness.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes for the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Morgeot" Dom. Louis Jadot 2024 are harvested by hand. After a rigorous triple sorting, the berries are pressed immediately. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in barrels for 12 months, during which malolactic fermentation occurs. Finally, light filtration may be applied before bottling, which is carried out on a favourable lunar day.
