    James Suckling

What a sensual nose of Amalfi lemon, ripe mirabelle and apricot this Corton-Charlemagne has! Gigantic fruit and almost as much structure behind it, the fine tannins underlining all this beautifully. Mouthwateringly fresh acidity and a saline touch that really ignites this at the very long, brilliant finish. From the south side of the hill of Corton. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

    Description

The Freshness and Persistence of a Burgundy Grand Cru White Wine

    The Estate

Founded in 1859, the Maison Louis Jadot has established itself as a major reference in Burgundy. The story begins in 1826 with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules." Owner of prestigious vineyards, Louis Jadot perpetuates a know-how passed down from generation to generation, thus offering the best of Burgundy to wine lovers worldwide.

Since September 2022, Thomas Seiter (formerly Bouchard Père et Fils) has been the president of the house, while Thibault Gagey has taken over as general manager, succeeding Pierre-Henry Gagey.

    The Vineyard

The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru of Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot comes from a vineyard located in Aloxe-Corton. On a 1.88-hectare plot, the "Pougets" climate benefits from a full southern exposure and rests on brown limestone soils, with subsoils rich in marl limestone.

    Vinification and Aging

The harvest is carried out manually at optimal ripeness: the grapes are transported in small crates to preserve their integrity, then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in barrels from Louis Jadot's cooperage, followed by 18 months of aging, one-third of which is in new barrels.

    Grape Variety

This Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Héritiers Louis Jadot 2020 is 100% Chardonnay.
