    Though marked by new oak, this has a shaft of alluring cherry and raspberry fruit at its core. This red's spice theme continues throughout, with an emerging mineral element. Features firm, refined tannins and refreshing acidity, which provide support and balance. This should hit its stride in 2 to 3 years. Best from 2026 through 2042. 50 cases made, 25 cases imported.

    A Premier Cru from Burgundy combining complexity and refinement

    The property

    The Maison Louis Jadot, established since 1859, is a true reference in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Owner of prestigious vineyard plots, Maison Louis Jadot perpetuates a know-how passed down from generation to generation, offering enthusiasts the best of Burgundy.

    At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey handed over his position in September 2022 to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the General Management to his son Thibault Gagey.

    The vineyard

    This Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru Poissenot 2020 comes from the Côte de Nuits region. This village only produces red wines, offering a range of 26 Premier Crus and 8 Grand Crus. The Premier Cru Poissenots is located adjacent to the Estournelles Saint-Jacques climate, north of the Combe de Lavaux. Benefiting from a full south orientation, this cru presents a rich and diversified clay-limestone soil.

    Vinification and aging

    The berries are hand-picked and placed in small crates to maintain the integrity of the fruit. These are then carefully hand-sorted before being destemmed. Maceration takes place in open vats, whether they are made of wood or stainless steel, for a period of 3 to 4 weeks. During fermentation, punching down is carried out twice a day. The wine is then aged for nearly 18 months in barrels from the estate's cooperage, about a third of which are new.
