    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2024 by Louis Jadot

    Tasting

    Colour
Displaying a pale yellow to golden hue, this white wine shines with subtle, slightly coppery reflections.

    Nose
Wonderfully complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of dried apricot and almond. It then reveals a pronounced mineral and smoky character, reminiscent of gunflint.

    Palate
The attack, marked by beautiful minerality, gives way to a rich, silky texture. With a powerful structure, this wine offers remarkable amplitude and a perfect balance between firmness and ripe fruity flavours, extending into an exceptionally long finish.

    Food and Wine Pairing

Ideal as an aperitif with foie gras toasts, this great white wine also enhances seafood and shellfish such as lobster or oysters. It pairs wonderfully with fine fish (turbot, halibut) served with a buttery sauce, as well as with soft cheeses such as Époisses.

    Service and Storage

To fully appreciate this Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, allowing it to breathe for 30 to 60 minutes beforehand. Built for very long ageing, this wine can be cellared and will evolve beautifully until around 2044.

The Authentic Expression of a Great White Burgundy Terroir

    The Estate

Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution located in Beaune, at the heart of the Burgundy wine region. Recognisable by its famous Bacchus emblem, it stands out for its unique ability to combine négociant and estate winegrowing activities. Now led by Thomas Seiter as president and Thibault Gagey as general manager, the estate oversees a vast vineyard. A staunch advocate of sustainable, low-intervention viticulture, the estate preserves the authenticity of its terroirs to produce wines of worldwide renown.

    The Vineyard

This wine comes from the prestigious climat of Perrières, located in the commune of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune. Facing east and south-east at an altitude of 260 metres, these vines benefit from optimal sunshine and excellent protection from the wind. The terroir takes its name from its very rocky soils, composed of Callovian limestone and Argovian marls, which give the grapes incomparable tension and minerality.

    The Vintage

The 2024 vintage proved particularly challenging. The cold, wet spring disrupted flowering, causing coulure and millerandage. May and June, marked by heavy rainfall, encouraged strong disease pressure. Fortunately, a significant improvement came at the end of July, with a hot, sunny August verging on drought. A cool, dry weather window around 10 September finally allowed healthy grapes to be harvested, although yields remained low.

    Winemaking and Aging

Following manual harvesting, the grapes destined for this Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" undergo slow, gentle pneumatic pressing. The must undergoes brief settling before being barrelled. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in French oak barrels, around 30% of which are new. Ageing then continues in these same barrels for approximately 16 months, allowing the wine to develop its full complexity.

    Grape Variety
