Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Meursault 1er Cru "Porusot" Domaine Louis Jadot 2023
Tasting
Appearance
This wine reveals a beautiful white colour.
Nose
Particularly expressive from its youth, the bouquet reveals a lovely aromatic intensity dominated by notes of white fruits, such as apple and pear, enhanced by delicate touches of grape pulp.
Palate
The palate offers a rich, ample and generous texture, while maintaining a perfect balance without any heaviness. A fine acidity supports the whole, adding depth and prolonging the tasting on a lovely persistence.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with noble fish dressed in a creamy or buttery sauce, such as turbot or sole meunière. It will also enhance poultry in sauce, such as chicken with mushrooms, as well as pressed cooked cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 12 to 13 °C. With its beautiful structure, it will evolve favourably in the cellar over approximately ten years.
The authentic expression of a great Meursault terroir by Maison Louis Jadot
The estate
Officially founded in 1859 in Beaune, although its winegrowing roots date back to 1826, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. Both a négociant house and a landowner, it oversees a vast vineyard of 125 to 130 hectares spread across the region's finest appellations. Now owned by the Kopf family and chaired by Thomas Seiter, the estate stands out for its highly respectful approach to terroirs and its strong environmental commitment, illustrated by a Level 3 High Environmental Value certification.
The vineyard
The Porusot climat, classified as Premier Cru, is located mid-slope within the Meursault appellation area. The vines benefit from excellent exposure and optimal drainage on deep soils composed of clay and limestone resting on a rocky substrate. Committed to an ecological approach, this terroir has been cultivated according to organic farming principles for nearly a decade, thereby promoting biodiversity and the pure expression of the site.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage was marked by an overall warm weather pattern. However, a few cooler episodes accompanied by welcome rainfall allowed the berries to retain a lovely natural balance and the freshness essential before the harvest.
Winemaking and aging
The making of this wine relies on classic methods aimed at respecting the identity of the climat. Aging is carried out in oak barrels, with meticulous control of the wood to support the aromatic complexity without ever masking the purity of the fruit.
