The estate
Officially founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House traces its winegrowing roots back to 1826. Now an emblematic figure of Burgundy, it stands out for a model combining a vast estate under ownership with a négociant activity. Today owned by the New York-based Kopf family and locally managed by the Gagey family, the estate oversees around 270 hectares of vines. Internationally renowned, the house promotes a respectful environmental approach and strives to faithfully express the diversity of Burgundy terroirs through a classic and consistent style.
The vineyard
Located in the Côte Chalonnaise, the Montagny appellation showcases the "Les Cloux" climat, whose name evokes ancient walled gardens. This parcel lies at the top of the slopes, benefiting from a full eastern exposure and a 25% gradient. The terroir rests on well-drained clay-limestone soils, scattered with stones on the surface. The vineyard consists of 40-year-old vines that bring depth, complemented by young vines aged 7 years. The whole is cultivated according to a sustainable environmental approach, including soil tilling and grass cover.
Winemaking and ageing
The elaboration of this Montagny 1er Cru "Les Cloux" 2023 relies on ageing carried out entirely in barrels, including 20% new oak, over a period of 12 months. The wine then spends 3 months in stainless steel tanks to harmonise its profile before bottling, which took place in November 2024.
