    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" Domaine Louis Jadot 2022

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a deep ruby-red hue, adorned with garnet reflections.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet is intense and complex. It exudes deep aromas of ripe fruits such as black cherry and strawberry, harmoniously interwoven with notes of spices, leather and a highly distinctive ferrous mineral touch.

    Palate
The palate offers a full, robust and generously full-bodied texture. Supported by firm tannins and lovely acidity, the powerful structure of this wine extends toward a remarkably lingering finish, marked by earthy and spicy nuances.

    Food and wine pairings

This red wine from France pairs beautifully with roasted or braised red meats, such as beef bourguignon, as well as with feathered game. It also enhances slow-cooked dishes with wild mushrooms and is delightful alongside characterful aged cheeses such as Époisses or Munster.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, taking care to decant it one to two hours before tasting. Crafted for ageing, this wine will reveal its full complexity after a minimum cellaring of five to ten years.

Louis Jadot crafts a Pommard wine that is delicate and beautifully rich

    The estate

Founded in 1859 in Beaune, Maison Louis Jadot has established itself as a true institution in Burgundy. Combining a vast estate under ownership with a négociant activity, it shines around the world thanks to its approach that respects the terroirs. Belonging to the American group Kobrand since 1985, the estate is today led by Thomas Seiter, who carries on the family legacy of the Gageys. With a production covering a tremendous diversity of appellations, Louis Jadot embodies the excellence and viticultural tradition of Burgundy, while remaining firmly committed to sustainable winegrowing.

    The vineyard

Located on the prestigious Côte de Beaune, the terroir of Pommard is renowned for producing wines of great power. The Climat "Rugiens" stands out in particular for its clay-limestone soils rich in iron. This geological singularity gives the vines a unique mineral signature. The estate applies sustainable viticultural practices there, limiting treatments and favouring mechanical soil work in order to preserve the biological balance of the plots.

    The vintage

The 2022 season offered mild climatic conditions in Burgundy. This favourable vintage allowed for optimal berry ripeness, ensuring healthy vegetative growth and a beautiful concentration of the grapes ahead of the harvest.

    Winemaking and ageing

The creation of this Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens" 2022 relies on traditional and precise methods. Fermentation takes place in open vats, punctuated by carefully adapted punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine then benefits from ageing in oak barrels, designed to structure the material without masking the identity of the terroir.
