    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Domaine Duc de Magenta 2023

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a pale yellow hue adorned with greenish highlights, distinguished by its beautiful clarity and brilliance.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with citrus notes, such as orange zest and orange oil, mingled with delicate touches of white flowers and pear. A mineral thread evoking flint intertwines with subtle woody nuances and toasted hazelnut derived from the ageing process.

    Palate
On the palate, this wine seduces with its vivacity and power. It offers a particularly fleshy fruit core, perfectly balanced by beautiful tension. The finish, long and energetic, stands out for its chalky grip that is highly representative of its terroir.

    Food and wine pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with delicate dishes such as pan-seared foie gras, shellfish and crustaceans like lobster or scallops, as well as noble white-fleshed fish. It also complements contemporary dishes very well, such as a citrus-infused ceviche or roasted root vegetables.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Dom. Duc de Magenta 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C. A light aeration in the glass is enough to release its aromas, without the need for decanting. This cellaring wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2030.

    The estate

Founded in 1859 in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House is an emblematic figure of Burgundy in France. Now owned by the American group Kobrand Fine Wine & Spirits, it is still run by the Gagey family, ensuring the continuity of its expertise. The house notably manages the vines of Domaine du Duc de Magenta, a historic aristocratic property with a vineyard of around 12 hectares. This unique partnership enables Louis Jadot to craft wines that remain true to the identity of prestigious terroirs recognised around the world.

    The vineyard

Located at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the Puligny-Montrachet vineyard extends over a hillside benefiting from an ideal eastern exposure. The vines flourish at mid-slope, at an altitude ranging between 230 and 270 metres. They grow on clay-limestone soils that promote natural drainage and give Chardonnay all its finesse. The vineyard is managed with an environmentally responsible approach, aiming to preserve biodiversity and soil health in order to express the very essence of this climat.

    Winemaking and ageing

The crafting of Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Dom. Duc de Magenta 2023 receives particular attention. Winemaking aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, with a carefully managed proportion of new wood. This stage brings structure and subtle toasted notes to the wine, while ensuring that the oak remains perfectly integrated so as not to mask its natural mineral tension.
