Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Rully Village 2023 by Louis Jadot
Tasting
Appearance
Clear and bright, the robe reveals a pale yellow hue enhanced by subtle golden reflections and light greenish nuances.
Nose
Expressive and seductive, the nose exudes rich aromas of tropical fruits such as pineapple and passion fruit, mingled with notes of apricot and orange peel. Delicate touches of white flowers, citrus and butter complete this bouquet.
Palate
The attack is soft and reveals a full and round texture. The palate unfolds indulgent flavours of exotic fruits and ripe citrus, supported by a balanced acidity and a fine mineral thread. The whole extends into a persistent finish with delicately buttery accents.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with roasted fish, white meats in creamy mushroom sauce, or dishes with Asian influences. It also goes very well with goat cheeses or uncooked pressed cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Rully Village 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, with a possible decanting of around twenty minutes. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve until around 2028.
A full and delicate Rully wine
The estate
Founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is an emblematic figure of Burgundy. Now owned by the Kopf family and chaired by Thomas Seiter, it stands out for its hybrid model combining a négociant activity with a vast estate of its own vineyards. Renowned worldwide for the quality of its wines, the estate is also distinguished by its strong environmental commitment. Indeed, it favours minimal intervention, holds the Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3 certification and is actively pursuing the organic conversion of its vineyards.
The vineyard
Located in the Côte Chalonnaise, the Rully vineyard extends over hillsides of moderate altitude, mainly facing east and south-east. The vines flourish on clay-limestone terroirs composed of marls and silts. For this cuvée, the vast majority of the grapes come from plots owned by the House itself, cultivated without any synthetic herbicides and with the utmost respect for biodiversity.
The vintage
The year 2023 stands among the vintages marked by particularly warm weather conditions in Burgundy. Thanks to meticulously adapted harvest dates, the growing cycle produced berries of clear and generous maturity, while preserving a fine balance and essential freshness.
Winemaking and aging
After a harvest at full maturity, the berries destined for the Rully Village 2023 undergo gentle pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in vats and oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Finally, the wine benefits from aging on fine lees for 10 to 12 months, accompanied by light bâtonnage and a very moderate use of new oak in order to preserve the authentic expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
