    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Santenay Village "Clos de Malte" Domaine Louis Jadot 2023

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a beautiful deep red hue with intense ruby highlights.

    Nose
The nose unveils a complex and generous bouquet, dominated by aromas of ripe red fruits, delicately underlined by hints of almond and subtle earthy notes.

    Palate
On the palate, this red wine from France stands out for its elegance and remarkable depth. The structure is supported by powerful yet perfectly controlled tannins, offering a fine texture and a lingering, fruit-driven finish.

    Food and wine pairings

This wine pairs beautifully with white or red meats of a fine texture, such as roast chicken with herbs or a duck breast fillet. It also complements traditional Burgundian dishes wonderfully, as well as soft or semi-hard cheeses such as Brie or Saint-Nectaire.

    Serving and cellaring

The Santenay Village "Clos de Malte" 2023 can be enjoyed in its youth, but it also has excellent ageing potential and can be cellared until around 2033.

The elegance and depth of a red wine from Santenay

    The estate

Founded in 1859 in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Combining a négociant activity with the management of a vast estate, it strives to express the purity of each terroir with great fidelity. Now owned by the American Kopf family through the Kobrand group and led by Thomas Seiter, the company retains its local roots and strong identity. Deeply committed to a sustainable environmental approach, the House shines throughout the world thanks to authentic cuvées.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from a seven-hectare plot farmed as a monopole, ideally located at the foot of the Montagne des Trois Croix, within the Santenay appellation. The vines flourish on soils rich in silt, clay and limestone, benefiting from a balanced exposure. Committed to preserving this unique terroir, the estate applies sustainable viticultural practices, encouraging biodiversity and strictly limiting chemical inputs to allow nature to fully express itself.

    Winemaking and ageing

To produce the Santenay Village "Clos de Malte" 2023, the berries undergo vat fermentation lasting up to four weeks, promoting a gentle and gradual extraction of colours and tannins. The wine then benefits from careful ageing in oak barrels for around twelve months, allowing it to refine its structure while preserving the brightness of its fruit.
