Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Château Sainte Marguerite "Marguerites en Provence" Blanc 2022
Tasting
Appearance
Beautifully clear and particularly bright, the wine reveals a deep, luminous golden hue.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of pear and roasted pineapple. With aeration, it unveils tropical fruit aromas enhanced by delicate vanilla touches.
Palate
The palate offers a beautiful continuity with the nose, echoing the flavours of pear and cooked pineapple, supported by vanilla nuances more pronounced than on the nose. The mid-palate displays great complexity, leading to a persistent and subtly saline finish.
Food and Wine Pairings
The estate recommends pairing this wine with wild sea bass cooked at low temperature. More broadly, this cuvée pairs wonderfully with delicate white fish (halibut, sole, turbot), seafood in creamy sauces, light poultry or fresh goat cheeses.
The Elegance and Minerality of a Great White Wine from Côtes de Provence
The Estate
The estate's history began in 1977 when the Fayard family settled on a small three-hectare plot. Today, the vineyard extends over 540 hectares in the heart of the Provence region. Since 2022, the Pernod Ricard group has been the majority shareholder of the property, while the founding family retains operational management, with Olivier Fayard serving as general manager and winemaker. A pioneer of sustainable viticulture, Sainte Marguerite en Provence stands out for its early commitment to organic farming and its prestigious status as a Cru Classé, obtained in 1955.
The Vineyard
Located opposite the Îles d'Or, this terroir within the Côtes de Provence appellation benefits from a unique maritime microclimate. Mild winters, low rainfall, abundant sunshine and sea spray create ideal conditions. The vines, derived from a rigorous massal selection, thrive on complex soils composed of schist, limestone, sandstone and flint outcrops. The entire estate has been cultivated according to the principles of organic farming since 2003.
The Vintage
The 2022 vintage in Provence proved particularly demanding from a climatic standpoint. The growing cycle was marked by extremely low rainfall, with only two rainy episodes recorded between May and the harvest period.
Vinification and Ageing
The making of Château Sainte Marguerite "Marguerites en Provence" Blanc 2022 begins with cold skin maceration prior to pressing. Vinification and ageing then take place over ten months in new French oak barrels with extra-fine grain, including barrels specifically selected to enhance the aromatic profile.
Grape Variety
Rolle (also known as vermentino).
