    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Michel Huard Casks 850 & 851 2026 Limited Edition by Michel Couvreur

    Pairings and Tasting Occasions
This high-quality spirit is naturally suited to sipping neat, slightly cool but not ice-cold, allowing its aromas to unfold gradually. It is particularly enjoyable at the end of a meal, as a classic digestif. To accompany it, opt for apple or pear desserts, such as a tarte Tatin or a crumble. It also offers a remarkable contrast with blue-veined cheeses and dark chocolate, or with a cigar for the discerning enthusiast.

    Mixology
While spirits of this calibre can be used in reinterpretations of classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned, the Sidecar or the Manhattan, bringing a note of apple and freshness, the rarity and premium positioning of this limited edition make it best reserved for sipping neat, without artifice, on special occasions.

An Exceptional Calvados at the Crossroads of Normandy and Burgundy

The House of Michel Couvreur: The Art of Maturation in Burgundy
Founded by the Belgian Michel Couvreur, who settled in Burgundy in the late 1970s, the house of Michel Couvreur is renowned for its singular philosophy: the quality of a spirit comes 90% from its cask and 10% from its distillation. Located in Bouze-lès-Beaune, the estate stands out for its vast underground cellars carved into the limestone, providing an ideal microclimate for slow maturation. Historically known for maturing whiskies in very old Sherry casks, the house is now opening up to new horizons, such as Calvados, and inaugurated its own distillation facilities in 2022. Since the founder's passing in 2013, continuity has been ensured by the current owners: his wife Marthe, his daughter Alexandra, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps, and cellar master Jean-Arnaud Frantzen, guardians of this unique artisanal expertise.

The Michel Huard Casks 850 & 851 Limited Edition: The Excellence of Calvados
The fruit of an unprecedented collaboration, the non-vintage Michel Huard Casks 850 & 851 2026 Limited Edition illustrates the convergence of two demanding artisanal philosophies. This Calvados originates from the Norman family estate Michel Huard, a true benchmark of the appellation, established for seven generations in the Suisse Normande. The raw material comes from around thirty varieties of apples grown in traditional high-stem orchards. The must undergoes a very slow, wood-fired annual distillation, resulting in a rich and complex eau-de-vie.

While the Norman estate excels in the patient maturation of its casks, this 2026 limited edition stands out through the involvement of the Burgundian house. The specific casks numbered 850 and 851 were rigorously selected to create this unique blend. This Calvados thus embodies the meeting of the fruity vibrancy of the Norman terroir and the maturation expertise of the Burgundian house.

Intended for connoisseurs and collectors, this rare cuvée bears witness to the respect for time and the passion for wood that drive both producers.
