    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2023 Vincent Girardin

    Tasting

    Colour
Bright and luminous, the colour reveals an elegant pale yellow hue.

    Nose
The bouquet opens with citrus aromas, blending lemon and grapefruit, accompanied by delicate white flowers. The whole is rounded out by touches of fresh butter, light toasted notes and marzipan.

    Palate
Both rich and precise, the palate offers lovely density while retaining great finesse. A refreshing liveliness is balanced by a characteristic mineral salinity. The long, pure finish lingers on subtle saline and mineral notes, without any heaviness.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with delicate seafood, such as langoustine carpaccio, roasted prawns or scallops with a buttery cabbage fondue. It will also enhance grilled fish such as lobster or sole, white meats in creamy sauces, as well as pressed or blue-veined cheeses.

    Service and Storage

For optimal enjoyment, this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2023 is best served at a temperature of 12°C. While it can be enjoyed in its youth for its liveliness, this wine will reveal its full ageing potential and can be kept until at least 2043 under good cellar conditions.

    Other Characteristics

This wine has a moderate alcohol content of 13.5% along with a pH of 3.32, reflecting a lovely natural acidity that is perfectly integrated.

The Mineral and Authentic Expression of a Meursault Premier Cru

    The Estate

Founded in 1982 with just two hectares of vines, the Vincent Girardin house has become a key name in Burgundy, France. The estate now spans more than 20 hectares, exploring the region's finest terroirs. A pioneer, the estate quickly adopted the principles of biodynamics to bring out the natural expression of its soils. Since 2012, Jean-Pierre Nié has headed the estate, ensuring the continuity of this exacting vision with the help of cellar master Eric Germain, to produce wines of remarkable purity.

    The Vineyard

Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the village of Meursault benefits from unique geological influences. The cuvée comes from the prestigious climat "Les Perrières", characterised by vines around 50 years old. This distinctive terroir rests on shallow clay-limestone soils dating from the Bathonian period, marked by the presence of white marl and limestone that give the wine its distinctive minerality.

    The Vintage

2023 stands out as the warmest year of the decade in the region, leading to early véraison and an early harvest. Despite these high temperatures, the dry, sunny climate allowed the grapes to reach an exceptional size and perfect health. This vintage thus offers optimal ripeness, while preserving lovely freshness and developing remarkable aromatic intensity.

    Winemaking and Aging

The grapes for this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2023 are hand-harvested and carefully sorted. After slow pneumatic pressing, fermentation begins naturally with indigenous yeasts in 228-litre French oak barrels (only 15% of which are new). The wine is then aged on the lees without stirring for 18 months. Finally, blending takes place in stainless steel tanks one month before bottling, which is carried out according to the lunar calendar after light fining and minimal filtration.
