    Vinum

Medium golden yellow; open nose, exotic fruits, peach, apricots, white flowers; straightforward on the palate, juicy fruit, fine acid structure, good length, finishing on apricot aromas. Balanced and perfect for an aperitif.

    Decanter

Spiced, herbal and green-fruited – apple and pear. Crisp and zingy, with some flesh to the expression that gives a lovely texture and weight in the mouth. Not too tart; the acidity is certainly in the background considering how low the pH is—this is all about the fruit flavours. Touches of bitterness, sweet apple and juicy lemon emerge towards the finish. Characterful and charming as well as clean! Ageing 30% in concrete vats and 70% in new or one- to two-year barrels for 6–8 months. pH 3.15. One third of Semillon underwent malolactic fermentation. Three passes harvesting the same rows to achieve the right maturity. 91???

    Zekun Shuai

A vintage marked by crispness and bright, almost electric acidity. Medium-bodied with flavors of cream, mild wasabi, guavas and green gooseberries. Very fresh and textured, with a long, energetic finish. Drink now or hold.

Yellow citrus, white peach, and orange rind scents already pop in the perfume. On the palate, the citrusy character is fresh, creamy, and fruity, leaving you with loads of sweet lemons, a touch of vanilla, and lively tangerines. The wine blends 60% Sauvignon Blanc with 40% Semillon. Drink from 2027-2033. 93-93 pts

    Description

The structure and tension of a white wine by Thunevin

    The estate

Château Valandraud, founded in 1989 by Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud, is located in the Fongaban valley in Saint-Émilion. Originally a bold project on 0.6 hectare, it distinguished itself by being part of the garage wine movement, advocating innovative methods and limited production. Classified Premier Grand Cru Classé in 2012, the estate is recognized for its innovative practices and the finesse of its wines.

    The vineyard

La Virginie de Valandraud is a dry white Bordeaux wine from vines planted on clay-limestone and siliceous-gravel soils. The vines are on average 15 years old. The vineyard area harvested for this wine, produced since 2000, totals 3 hectares.

    The vintage
The 2024 vintage was characterized by contrasting climatic conditions that required particular attention in vineyard management. A mild and very rainy winter was followed by an equally wet spring, causing significant mildew pressure. The alternation of rain and sunny days during the summer delayed berry ripening.

    Winemaking and aging
Manual harvest in three passes. Cold storage in a cold room before pressing. Fermentation in tanks then barrels. Malolactic fermentation on one-third of the Sémillon. Aged 6 to 8 months in barrels (70%) and concrete tanks (30%).

    Blend

Sauvignon Blanc (60%) and Sémillon (40%)
