    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the 4 éléments Chardonnay Extra Brut 2019 by Champagne Huré Frères

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine reveals a pale straw-yellow hue, clear and brilliant, enlivened by fine, persistent bubbles.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with citrus notes such as lemon zest and grapefruit, intertwined with scents of white flowers and white peach. With aeration, a richer dimension emerges, with hints of salted butter and golden brioche, all underpinned by a deep chalky minerality.

    Palate
The attack is vibrant, precise and taut. The palate is built around a highly dynamic mineral, chalky core, accompanied by refreshing citric acidity and delicate yeasty notes. It all stretches out elegantly towards a finish of remarkable length.

    Serving and ageing

Blessed with fine ageing potential, this 4 éléments Chardonnay Extra Brut 2019 can be cellared and will continue to develop gracefully until around 2036.

The distinctive expression of a Montagne de Reims terroir by Champagne Huré Frères

    The estate

The story of Champagne Huré Frères is rooted in Ludes. While the family adventure began in the 1960s, the House was officially founded in 1971 by three brothers. Today, the estate is run by François Huré, owner and cellar master, supported by his brother Pierre. Covering some ten hectares, this independent estate stands out for its move towards organic farming and its commitment to faithfully expressing the identity of the terroirs on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims through highly precise single-plot cuvées.

    The vineyard

This cuvée comes exclusively from the lieu-dit Les Blanches Voies, a Premier Cru plot located in the village of Rilly-la-Montagne, in Champagne. This singular terroir enjoys a due-south exposure, ideal for ripening the grapes. The vines draw their character from a highly calcareous soil, where the deep chalk gives the wine its tension and intense minerality.

    Winemaking and ageing

The making of the 4 éléments Chardonnay Extra Brut 2019 relies on meticulous technical choices. Both the spontaneous fermentation and the ageing take place entirely in wood, in 600-litre demi-muids. To preserve all the freshness and natural tension of the grapes, malolactic fermentation is avoided. Finally, the second fermentation in bottle is carried out with tirage under natural cork, fostering an effervescence of great finesse.

    Grape variety

    100% Chardonnay.
