Description
A delicate rosé Champagne from the Montagne de Reims by Huré Frères
The estate
Founded in 1960 by Georges Huré in Ludes, the estate became Huré Frères in 1971 under the leadership of his three sons Jean-Marie, Marc, and Raoul. Since 2008, François Huré has overseen the winemaking, joined by his brother Pierre in 2012 to manage the vineyards. This 11-hectare family-run house is transitioning to organic farming, with certification expected in 2025. Their approach combines traditional techniques and biodynamics, producing champagnes that reveal the unique minerality of each parcel of the Montagne de Reims.
The vineyard
The grapes used for this Insouciance cuvée come from parcels located on the northern slope of the Montagne de Reims, spread between Ludes on clay and sand soils, Rilly-la-Montagne on chalk, and Villedommange on sandy terrain. These diverse limestone terroirs bring freshness and minerality, characteristic of the cool climate of this Champagne region.
Vinification and ageing
Insouciance Rosé Extra Brut is aged 90% in stainless steel vats and 10% in barrels, thus preserving the freshness and expression of the fruit. The champagne rests on lees for 2 years, developing aromatic complexity before disgorgement with a minimal dosage of 4 g/l.
Grape varieties
Insouciance Extra Brut by Huré Frères is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier, enriched with 25% reserve wines. The rosé style is achieved by blending in 5% red wine from older vines, adding both color and structure to the whole.
