Description
The minerality and finesse of a Champagne from the Montagne de Reims
The estate
Founded in 1960 by Georges Huré in Ludes, in the Montagne de Reims, the estate became Huré Frères in 1971. François and Pierre Huré, third-generation family members, now run this 11-hectare family property. François, trained in Burgundy and abroad, oversees the winemaking while Pierre manages organic and biodynamic viticulture. Their philosophy is based on the authentic expression of each Champagne terroir, combining traditional know-how with modern techniques to reveal the unique identity of their chalky plots.
The vineyard
The "4 éléments Pinot Meunier Extra Brut" cuvée comes exclusively from the "La Grosse Pierre" plot in Ludes, planted in 1963. This vineyard enjoys a west-facing exposure on the highly chalky soils of the Montagne de Reims, facing north. This unique geological setting gives the Meunier a mineral and pure expression, characteristic of the great champenois terroirs.
Winemaking and aging
The wine is aged for 18 months in large 600L and 350L barrels, followed by 4 years on the lees. This prolonged aging process develops aromatic complexity while preserving the purity of the grape variety. Bottling is done directly under cork, without using a crown cap. The dosage for this Extra Brut is 1.7 g/L.
Grape variety
4 éléments Extra Brut 2018 from Huré Frères is made from 100% Pinot Meunier.
