    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Premier Cru "Les Vignes de Bisseuil" by Egly-Ouriet

    Tasting

    Color

With a beautiful straw yellow to pale lemon hue, this white wine reveals a brilliant clarity. The effervescence stands out for its remarkable finesse, offering a delicate and persistent bead of bubbles.

    Nose

The bouquet opens with aromas of fresh white flowers such as jasmine, acacia and honeysuckle, mingled with notes of citrus and pear. With aeration, enticing scents of brioche, bread crust and toasted nuts emerge, underscored by a mineral touch.

    Palate

Full-bodied and richly textured, the palate unfolds flavors of citrus, stone fruit and subtle exotic notes, enhanced by a pastry-like dimension. The vibrant acidity and chalky minerality carry the wine toward a remarkably long, lively and delicately saline finish.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, shellfish or delicate white fish. It also enhances roasted poultry served with a creamy mushroom sauce, aged cheeses such as Comté, as well as fine cold cuts or Asian-inspired dishes.

    Service and Storage

To fully appreciate this champagne, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 46°F and 50°F (8 to 10°C). Enjoyable now, this wine has the structure to age favorably in the cellar until around 2038.

The Elegance and Precision of a Great Champagne Chardonnay

    The Estate

Officially founded in 1945, the Egly-Ouriet house is located in Ambonnay, at the heart of the Champagne wine region. This family estate has been run since 1982 by Francis Egly, the current owner, now supported by his children Clémence and Charles. A pioneer of the modern grower-producer movement, he has elevated the estate to the highest level through an uncompromising approach, favoring extended ripeness and prolonged aging to craft wines of remarkable purity and terroir expression.

    The Vineyard

This wine comes from a 1.5-hectare plot located in the classified Premier Cru village of Bisseuil, in the Marne Valley. Facing south and southeast, the vines, nearly forty years old, benefit from optimal sun exposure. They thrive on soils composed of limestone, chalk and clay, cultivated using environmentally friendly methods, with no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

    Winemaking and Aging

The making of this Premier Cru "Les Vignes de Bisseuil" begins with a gentle pressing, of which only the first cut is kept. Fermentation takes place exclusively in French oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. The wine then undergoes extended aging on its lees in bottle, bringing great complexity before disgorgement. This wine is very lightly dosed, placing it in the Extra Brut category. It is bottled without fining or filtration to preserve all its purity, and does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to retain its natural freshness.

    Grape Varieties

Chardonnay (70%), Pinot Noir (15%), Pinot Meunier (15%).
