    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Pol Roger's 2019 Vintage Rosé

    Tasting notes

    Appearance
This wine reveals a bright colour with delicate salmon-pink hues. Its brilliance is enhanced by beautiful pink and gold highlights, all animated by fine, steady bubbles.

    Nose
The bouquet is particularly generous and remarkably complex. It opens with intense aromas of ripe red fruits such as black cherry and wild strawberry, delicately wrapped in scents of rose petals. With aeration, indulgent touches of strawberry pastry and English boiled sweets emerge, complemented by subtle notes of exotic fruits such as lychee and pineapple.

    Palate
The attack is full and silky, offering perfect balance. The palate reveals delicious notes of morello cherry, strawberry, gooseberry and rhubarb, enhanced by a delicate hint of bitter almond. The texture is rich and harmonious, supported by fine tension, refreshing acidity and perfectly integrated tannins. The finish lingers, leaving an impression of elegance and great freshness.

    Food and wine pairings
This cuvée is particularly enjoyable with seafood, such as grilled fish or shellfish. It also pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, mildly ripened soft cheeses, as well as lightly sweetened desserts showcasing red fruits.

    Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy the 2019 Vintage Rosé, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 10°C, ideally in tulip-shaped glasses. Although already very approachable today, this wine has fine ageing potential and can be kept in the cellar for a further five to eight years.

An exceptional rosé Champagne by Pol Roger, combining structure and elegance

    The estate
Founded in 1849, the Pol Roger house is located in Épernay, at the heart of the Champagne region. This prestigious brand stands out for its independence, remaining to this day in the hands of the founder's family, notably represented by the Varenard de Billy family on the supervisory board. Executive management is currently entrusted to Laurent d'Harcourt, chairman of the executive board. With around 90 hectares of vineyards of its own, the estate perpetuates traditional know-how, illustrated by the practice of hand riddling, to craft wines of great precision and rare elegance.

    The vineyard
The grapes intended for this rosé Champagne come from a rigorous selection of around twenty Premiers and Grands Crus. The vines are mainly located in the renowned terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. To bring colour and tannic structure, the blend includes grapes from emblematic villages such as Bouzy, Ambonnay and Cumières, recognised for the exceptional quality of their fruit.

    The vintage
The year 2019 offered contrasting yet highly favourable weather conditions, resulting in a harvest of healthy grapes of remarkable quality. After a rather mild winter, spring proved cool and wet. The summer season was then marked by two heatwaves, before welcome rainfall in August helped perfect ripening. The harvest took place under favourable conditions between 10 and 24 September.

    Winemaking and ageing
As soon as they are harvested, the bunches are pressed gently and swiftly. After cold settling, alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with crus and grape varieties carefully kept separate. Malolactic fermentation is fully completed. Before bottling, red wine is added to the blend. The 2019 Vintage Rosé then benefits from a long ageing period on lees of around five years, in cellars located 33 metres underground. After hand riddling in keeping with tradition and disgorgement, the bottles rest for at least a further six months before release.

    Grape varieties
This blend is made up of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay.
