    Description

The elegance and aromatic richness of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

    The Estate

It was in 1955 that Marcel Dassault, CEO of the eponymous group, acquired Château Couperie, then abandoned, with the ambition of enhancing the potential of this exceptional terroir located on the northern slopes of Saint-Émilion. Following extensive renovation work, the former estate, now renamed Château Dassault, was promoted to Grand Cru Classé in 1969.

    The Vineyard

The vineyard of Château Dassault covers an area of 24 hectares, 16 of which are in production. The vines, averaging 26 years old, are planted on sand and clay on Fronsac molasse characteristic of Saint-Émilion. Certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) Level 3 and ISO 14001, the vineyard undergoes shallow soil work and partial grass cover.

    Winemaking and Ageing

Hand harvest followed by optical sorting. Gravity-fed filling. Winemaking is carried out by parcel in temperature-controlled concrete vats and wholly in barrels. Ageing lasts, depending on the parcels, between 12 and 16 months in barrels (60% new, 33% once-used) as well as in amphorae (7%).

    Blend

Château Dassault 2020 is the result of a blend of Merlot (86%), Cabernet Franc (11%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (3%).
