    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château de Pibarnon 2024

    Tasting

    Nose

The nose reveals delicate notes of citrus and flowers, followed by more intense aromas of spices and licorice.

    Palate

The palate stands out for its harmony and boldness. Cinsault brings roundness and vibrant fruit, while Mourvèdre structures the whole with freshness and refinement. The tasting lingers on a finish marked by an elegant hint of bitterness.

    Wine pairings

This gastronomic rosé pairs perfectly with the flavors of Mediterranean cuisine: bouillabaisse, grilled fish with herbs de Provence, ratatouille, or local goat cheeses. It also matches beautifully with light Asian dishes such as citrus ceviche, sushi, or fresh fish tartare.

The harmony and expression of a great Bandol rosé wine

    The estate

Acquired and redesigned in 1978 by Catherine and Henri de Saint-Victor, the Château de Pibarnon is an emblematic figure of southeastern France. Established on the heights of Bandol, the estate is now run by their son, Éric de Saint-Victor. Expanded from 3.5 to 50 hectares, the property stands out for its pursuit of excellence and deep respect for the environment, illustrated by organic certification obtained in 2019 and the application of biodynamic principles. Château de Pibarnon thus produces vibrant wines that reflect an exceptional terroir.

    The vineyard

Perched at over 300 meters in altitude, the terraced vineyard forms a natural amphitheater facing the sea. This unique terroir of the Bandol appellation rests on Triassic limestone soils and Santonian blue marls. This exceptional geology allows water to be retained during the summer, preventing any water stress in the vines. The altitude ensures cool nights, promoting slow and optimal ripening of the berries.

    The vintage

The year 2024 was marked by major climatic challenges. A spring frost episode severely impacted the region, destroying a large part of the crop and significantly reducing yields for this vintage.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes for this Château de Pibarnon 2024 are harvested exclusively by hand. In the cellar, Cinsault is directly pressed, while Mourvèdre undergoes direct saignée and pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for approximately three weeks. The wine is then aged for six months in tanks to preserve all its freshness and liveliness.
