    Vinum

Powerful, sappy and characterful, with astringent tannins and noticeable alcohol on the finish.

Taut and fresh, the tannins are fleshy and upfront, filling the mouth with grippy yet well-worked tannins, with a texture of chalk and grape skins against cool blue-fruit flavours and some salty touches with dark chocolate. On the more serious, sombre side, quite tense and compact, but with nice purity and detailed definition. Still a little shy toward the finish, but this has an appealing style and ease about it, with good fruit depth, mouthwatering acidity, and hints of chalky saltiness. Tasted twice. HVE certified.

Forward, soft, chewy, peppery red berries with freshness, spice, cedar and leafy herbs on the nose and palate. The wine is medium-bodied, forward, and fruity. This is one of the remaining values in Pauillac. The wine is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 13% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2025-2042. 89-91 Pts.

Likely to be the last vintage of La Fleur Peyrabon, as it will be included in Lynch Moussas going forward, so one to look out for if you are a fan of this good value Pauillac. Expect intense black fruits, plenty of Pauillac character, maybe a little drying on the finish, but this is enjoyable, with signature crayon and eucalyptus. Harvest September 8 to 27. Owned by the Casteja family since June of this 2022 vintage, 35hl/ha yields.

The nose is elegant, fresh, airy, and offers lovely richness in “lightness” as well as a delicate roasted/cocoa edge. It reveals notes of bright blackberry, violet, cornflower, and, more subtly, fresh/juicy cherry, combined with touches of almost roasted red berries, fine hints of Cubeb pepper, and a faint almost varietal note in the background. The palate is fresh, elegant, mineral, delicate, silky, and textured, with lovely definition. On the palate, this wine delivers notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, crushed blue fruits, and, more subtly, bright raspberry, combined with touches of roasted cherry, racy minerality, star anise, a subtle hint of toast, as well as a fine hint of fresh roasting and toasted almond. Good length. Beautiful freshness, power, overall harmony, great structure, and deliciousness! Congratulations!

    Description

A rich and balanced great Pauillac red wine

    The estate

In the heart of the Pauillac appellation, Château La Fleur Peyrabon is an estate with a great personality. On Bordeaux’s Left Bank, this property has been brilliantly managed by Patrick Bernard since 1998, who makes it a point of honour to produce elegant and refined wines, reflecting all the uniqueness of this great terroir.

In September 2022, Château Peyrabon and Château Fleur Peyrabon were acquired by the BCAP group (Castéja family), owners of Château Batailley and Château Lynch-Moussas.

    The vineyard

Château La Fleur Peyrabon is a Pauillac wine made from a vineyard of almost 5 hectares. The vines are 22 years old on average and are planted on sandy gravel on a clay subsoil, making a great Médoc terroir.

    Winemaking and ageing

Manual and mechanical harvesting. The grapes are transferred by vibrating container, de-stemmed and optically sorted, then crushed and vatted. The vinification is carried out in concrete vats and in barrels for the Petit Verdot batches. Average maceration of 21 days. The presses are systematically separated into barrels. Part of the wine is placed in barrels at the time of running off. The wine is aged for 14 months in barrels (50% new wood).

    Blend

Château La Fleur Peyrabon 2022 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (13%).
