    Description

Tasting characteristics and advice for Château Pierbone 2014

    Tasting

    Color

    The wine displays a medium-intensity ruby-red hue.

    Nose

The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant and black fruits, enhanced by notes of cedar and graphite that lend a mineral dimension to the whole.

    Palate

The attack is lively, followed by a silky palate combining refined tannins and delightful freshness. Flavors of black cherry and blueberry mingle with cedar notes, offering fine harmony through the finish.

    Food and wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a roasted rib of beef, game, or venison. It also elegantly complements duck dishes and mushroom-based preparations.

    Serving and aging

Château Pierbone 2014 is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15.5°C. Light decanting for about 30 to 45 minutes helps optimize aromatic expression. This wine can be enjoyed through around 2028.

A second wine from Haut-Médoc combining freshness and elegance

    The estate

Château Pierbone is the Second Wine of Château Peyrabon. Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, on the doorstep of Pauillac, the Château Peyrabon is nestled in a true green setting. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone significant restructuring and modernization, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. This outstanding Haut-Médoc reference offers wines that are true to the appellation—elegant and powerful—with superb aging potential.

    The vineyard

Château Pierbone comes from selected plots within the Château Peyrabon vineyard in the Haut-Médoc. The vines thrive on soils composed of sand, gravel, and clay, providing optimal drainage. These terroirs allow for a natural concentration of aromas while preserving the characteristic freshness of the appellation.

    The vintage

The 2014 vintage saw a mild winter followed by a changeable spring. June and July were marked by climatic instability that encouraged vegetative growth. The more clement, sunny conditions in late August and September helped refine grape maturity before harvest.

    Winemaking and aging

Château Pierbone 2014 benefited from parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled vats, with maceration lasting nineteen to twenty-four days. Aging took place over fourteen months in oak barrels, 25% new wood and 75% once-used barrels, allowing harmonious oak integration without masking the fruit expression.
