Description
A Classic Grand Cru from Burgundy
Founded in 1782, Domaine Henri Rebourseau is one of the most prestigious houses of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Inspired by the winegrowing traditions of their ancestors, Bénigne and Louis de Surrel, in partnership with the Bouygues family, place expertise and respect for the vine at the heart of their wines.
Domaine Henri Rebourseau's Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru 2016 comes from vines in the Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru appellation that are around 35 years old. The 1.32-hectare plot lies in the northern part of the climat and accounts for 10% of the appellation's production.
The 2016 vintage proved excellent for the Côte de Nuits. After a wet spring and a dry summer, the weather remained favourable right up to harvest, with sunny days and cool nights allowing the berries to reach perfect ripeness while retaining lovely aromatic freshness.
The Domaine Henri Rebourseau plot that produces the Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru 2016 is farmed biodynamically. These were the estate's first vines to be cultivated using this method.
On tasting, the Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru 2016 reveals itself to be elegant and smooth. Aromas of wild strawberry blend with notes of vanilla. On the palate, the tannins are structured and complex.
The Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru 2016 can be enjoyed now, while also showing fine ageing potential. It will pair beautifully with bœuf bourguignon or other meats served in sauce.
