Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Meursault Village "Les Tessons" 2022 from Domaine Pierre Morey
Tasting notes
Appearance
The wine reveals a lemon-yellow to straw-yellow hue with beautiful brilliance.
Nose
The nose releases a complex bouquet of citrus and ripe yellow fruit aromas, such as peach and apricot. It is enriched by empyreumatic notes reminiscent of toasted hazelnut, along with a mineral touch evoking warm stone.
Palate
On the palate, the wine offers real fullness and impressive power. This rich, generous texture is perfectly balanced by fine acidity and a very linear mineral backbone, leading to a persistent, energetic finish.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine will pair wonderfully with noble fish in sauce, such as monkfish à l'américaine or poached fish with beurre blanc. It will also enhance a wild mushroom risotto or hard cooked-curd cheeses such as Gruyère.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, we recommend serving this Meursault Village "Les Tessons" 2022 from Domaine Pierre Morey at a temperature of around 12°C (54°F). With great ageing potential, this wine can be enjoyed now but will continue to develop favourably until around 2034.
The purity and minerality of a great white wine from Meursault
The estate
Although the family has been rooted in Meursault since 1793, Domaine Pierre Morey was officially founded in 1971. Located in the heart of Burgundy, this estate of approximately 10 hectares is renowned for its exacting standards and its environmentally respectful approach. A pioneer in the region, the estate has been farmed entirely biodynamically since 1997. Drawing on his experience as estate manager for prestigious neighbours, Pierre Morey now runs the estate with his daughter Anne and, more recently, Jean-Victor, perpetuating a family tradition focused on the pure and authentic expression of terroir.
The vineyard
The cuvée comes from a micro-parcel of 0.89 hectares located mid-slope, just above the village of Meursault. Planted around 1978, these old vines enjoy an exceptional position at the same altitude as the premiers crus. The terroir is distinguished by very stony, shallow soils, where the roots quickly reach the limestone bedrock just thirty to forty centimetres below the surface. The entire vineyard is cultivated according to biodynamic principles, with hand-harvested grapes.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage enjoyed generally very favourable weather conditions in the Côte de Beaune. This mild climate provided an optimal environment for the vine's growing cycle, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness while retaining lovely freshness.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting. The vinification of the Meursault Village "Les Tessons" 2022 from Domaine Pierre Morey is carried out with precision to preserve aromatic purity and the energy of the fruit. The ageing, carefully controlled and without excessive oak, aims to enhance the natural minerality of the terroir while adding complexity to the wine.
