The freshness and precision of a white wine from Burgundy
The estate
Located in Aloxe-Corton in Burgundy (France), the Poisot Père & Fils estate traces its family roots back to 1902. However, the creation of the brand and independent bottling date back to 2010, when Rémi Poisot, a former Navy officer, took over the estate. Now at the helm of this 2-hectare vineyard, he continues a terroir-respectful savoir-faire. Although part of the land was acquired by LVMH in 2024 for succession reasons, Rémi Poisot retains full operation and independence of the estate.
The vineyard
This wine comes from a single 0.20-hectare plot located within the Pernand-Vergelesses appellation. Reaching an altitude of 300 metres at the top of the En Caradeux hillside, this terroir benefits from an east-facing exposure, taking advantage of the morning sun. The vines, planted in 2013 on clay-limestone soils with yellow marl, are farmed according to High Environmental Value principles. The vineyard is maintained with natural grass cover, manual weeding beneath the rows, and simple Guyot pruning, thereby promoting soil protection.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for this Pernand-Vergelesses Village Domaine 2022 are harvested by hand at physiological ripeness. Whole clusters are slowly pressed using a pneumatic press. After a settling period of 24 to 48 hours, alcoholic fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts in oak barrels aged one to two years. Malolactic fermentation is carried out at 100%, accompanied by light lees stirring. Aging then continues in barrels for 14 to 16 months before bottling with minimal fining and filtration.
